What will I learn?

After completing our training, you will be able to:

  • Identify your role in keeping LGBTQ+ young people safe, and free from stigma and discrimination
  • Consider how LGBTQ+ inclusive practice and resilience can be embedded across your school or college
  • Consider how the intersections of LGBTQ+ identity, race and disability can affect risk and protective factors for positive mental health
  • Explore the importance of relationships and what LGBTQ+ young people say works in helping to support their mental health and build their resilience

“I really enjoyed the course and felt the layout was informative and accessible. This course helped further my understanding of LGBTQ+ mental health and what these students face at school. The facts were really useful, as were model answers and resources that I can take to the rest of my staff when covering this content further.”

About the course

This CPD accredited course will provide you with the knowledge, tools and confidence to better support the mental health and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ young people. The content you see is tailored to your nation and setting type. Use the dropdown menu at the start of this page to choose your nation, setting type and whether you’d like to learn in English or Welsh.

Stonewall has developed the content of this course with YoungMinds, the UK’s leading charity fighting for children and young people's mental health.
